I think Windy Citizen should be added to this list: http://www.windycitizen.com

Anna – Isn’t windycitizen an aggregator? Or is there original content?

      Hi, Kim!

Great roundup. These are all terrific sites and for the new ones, I’m excited to see what they grow up into.

Windy Citizen is all original content in that everything’s posted by real human people. The headlines link out to other sites, but they were all written by hand by one of hundreds of hardcore Chicagoans who hang out on our site all day reading, voting up, and commenting on their favorite local stories. We’ve mobilized a terrific community of Chicagoans who care about what happening in their city and want to recommend the best local stories to others. If that’s not crowd-sourced local news, I don’t know what is!

Would be happy to answer any questions that you have. Cheers!

You’re right in that it’s mainly an aggregator. However, there are blogs: http://www.windycitizen.com/blogs though some are no longer active or were set up for one-time events. Still, even though WC mainly aggregates, I feel that it deserves mentioned here since it’s an independent effort by a lone entrepreneur and not being backed by any large media organizations.
